KANSAS CITY, MO – Today at a reception honoring the State of Missouri’s participation in the Power & Light District, the City of Kansas City and The Cordish Company announced ChinaBAR, a new CB5 Restaurant Group concept, as the latest tenant in the Power & Light District. CB5 Restaurant Group is an international restaurant and entertainment company responsible for over eighty original restaurants throughout the country, including concepts in conjunction with W Hotels, Ian Schrager Hotels, Cirque de Soleil, and the Onassis family. Founded in January 1998 by Jody Pennette, CB5 consists of restaurant specialists who conceptualize, develop, manage, and operate innovative restaurants in developments and hotels across the country. ChinaBAR will be located adjacent to “Vinino by Chef Paternotte” on the first floor of the Kansas City Live! block, and will front both the plaza and Grand Boulevard. The restaurant will total 7,500 square feet and have approximately 225 seats. ChinaBAR will feature Japanese sushi, Chinois specialties, and classic Chinese favorites, combining cross-cultural influences of the Far East with a contemporary urban atmosphere. ChinaBAR will also feature an extensive drink menu, including such classics as the Polynesian Mai Tai, the Singapore Sling, and the modern Lichitini, along with a selection of chilled sake. The Cordish Company is a third generation, family owned business.
Paul L. Cordish founded the Company in 1932 and remained active
with the Company until his early 90’s and his passing in
March, 2003. Paul Cordish’s legacy of integrity, humanity
